Pie + Microsoft Teams = Game Changer
Crazy Easy!
Wow! You can run Pie project management application inside Microsoft Teams without needing to open a separate window. I didn’t know this!
Below, Robert Field, a Pie customer, shows us how simple it is to embed Pie and run all of your projects right from inside a Microsoft Teams channel. Rob is the Vice President of Global Digital Solutions & Technology at Precipart Corporation.
At our Pie company, we don’t have Teams since we integrated Slack with Pie, so this was educational for me as well. What a nice surprise!
Video — Rob Shows Us How
Click play on the below video and see how crazy easy it is to embed Pie inside a Teams channel. Rob also tells us why it’s so valuable.
How-To Steps
Here are the steps Rob covers in the above video.
Open Microsoft Teams and select the channel under your desired team.
Log into Pie and open the project you would like to have embedded in Teams in real time and copy that project’s URL link.
In Teams, select the channel where you want to access this Pie project.
Click the “+” plus icon in the top menu items.
In the “Add a tab” window, click square button named “Website”.
Name this new tab, such as your project name.
Paste in the Pie project’s URL.
Click Save.
Done! Anyone with access to this Teams channel and is assigned to that Pie project will now see Pie in this new Teams tab.
Rob shares the Value about Teams with Pie
As you can hear in the video, I asked Rob how this embedded feature provides value for his organization. He said they invested heavily in Teams and embedding Pie in Teams made it easy for project team members to quickly adopt Pie for project execution and followup. They post messages and attach files in Teams, and then do everything else in Pie, all in the same application window.
The power is not just the ability of Teams to embed any web page, but rather that page is Pie. Rob explains the real plus of Teams with Pie is the extra value Pie brings over any other tool they have researched including Microsoft Project Server and Zoho Projects.
What Rob Said About Pie…
In the above video, Rob not only shared how he sets up Pie in Microsoft Teams, but also shared the overall value of Pie and why he decided to go with Pie rather than Microsoft Project Server and other tools like Zoho Projects. Here are some of his comments.
“Pie’s biggest value is its adoption with team members”
“Pie has really changed the way we work”
“it’s become the linchpin of our communications and tracking throughout all of our projects”
“as a result, it’s alleviated a lot of my responsibility from followup and decimating information, and now people feel so comfortable because the ease of use of Pie to come right in and get the information they need and we can act on it accordingly”
“…so it’s really is a game changer for us to a point that we use it for just more than project management, we use it for test management, followups, meeting assignments,…”
“[Pie] is a big deal for us”
“the new [Pie] reports have given us a lot of insight as to where we need to dedicate our time without having to jump through a lot of hoops to get to that information.”
“it’s been an easy transition for us to go from toying with project management to a full-blown project management office running all of our projects across the organization”
“lucky we met you”
Hey Rob, we’re lucky we met you and your team too! Thank you for sharing the above video and steps with our audience! Your experience with integrating the Pie project management tool with Microsoft Teams has helped us see new value Pie can bring to other Pie customers. Thanks again!
